Jamie – Bridal Photos

  • Type of shoot: Bridal session

  • Gear: Canon 5D MKII, Zeiss 35 1.4 Distagon, Sigma 85 1.4, Canon 70-200 2.8 L II

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Jamie, a beautiful bride-to-be, just outside her dad’s ranch and on location in the town of Columbus, TX. The misty weather that day gave us a perfect, diffused light, so I shot entirely with available light—no modifiers needed. The soft atmosphere created an ideal backdrop for her portraits.

We had a bit of fun with the session, too. Some cows wandered into the scene, which made for an unexpected yet playful element. Using a 2X extender helped compress the scene, making the cows appear closer to Jamie than they actually were, adding a fun touch.

I aimed to avoid too much direct eye contact in many of the shots, opting for a more introspective feel that reflected the anticipation of her big day. One of my favorite moments from the shoot was capturing her when a small gust of wind sent her veil flowing—an image that she later turned into a large metallic print for her wedding reception.

It was a session filled with natural beauty and a few moments that really captured Jamie’s spirit.
